Annual Awards Submission Portal

The Florida Beach Patrol Chiefs Association (FBPCA) is proud to recognize excellence, leadership, and dedication in the Ocean Rescue profession through our annual awards program. This is the official submission portal for all award nominations.

Award Submissions

Applicants are invited to submit nominations for the following awards:

  • Beach Patrol of the Year (separate application template required)

  • Lifeguard of the Year (separate application template required)

  • President’s Award

  • Heroic Acts

  • Meritorious Acts

  • Lifetime Achievement

  • Life Membership

Submission Guidelines:

  • Beach Patrol of the Year and Lifeguard of the Year applications must be submitted using the official [submission template] BPOTY LGOTY

  • All other award categories require a one-page write-up, submitted as a separate document for each award.

  • Submissions should clearly outline the nominee’s qualifications, achievements, or actions based on the criteria for that award.

  • All heroic or meritorious acts must be reported within one year of the date they occurred.

Beach Patrol of the Year

Recognizes an agency that demonstrates outstanding service, dedication, and excellence in Ocean Rescue across Florida.

Lifeguard of the Year

Honors an individual lifeguard who has exemplified exceptional commitment, professionalism, and service to the safety of Florida’s beaches.

President’s Award

Recipients have advanced the Ocean Rescue profession through their dedication and leadership. Recognizing and honoring a standard for service that encourages a sustained commitment to beach and lifeguard safety with exceptional achievements for Ocean Rescue.

Heroic Acts

Recognition is restricted to acts which show conclusive evidence that the individual or group of lifeguards performing the act risked their own life off-duty to an extraordinary degree in saving, or attempting to save, the life of another person, or voluntarily sacrificing themselves in a heroic manner for the benefit of others. It is restricted to acts in which no primary family relationship exists. Heroic acts performed must be reported within one year of the date they occurred.

Meritorious Acts

Created to give due recognition to the person or persons, lifeguard, or non-lifeguard, who have performed any act of lifesaving on-duty which brings credit to lifesaving or resulted in the saving of a life. Meritorious acts performed must be reported within one year of the date they occurred.

Lifetime Achievement

Noteworthy and exemplary contributions to Ocean Rescue and Lifeguarding profession during a career spanning at least 25 years. Commitment to professional growth as demonstrated by career path and professional achievements. Service as a role model or mentor that shows dedication to the advancement of Ocean Rescue.

Life Member

Celebrates and recognizes the contributions of an individual to the Florida Beach Patrol Chiefs Association. It honors this person whose loyal and outstanding service and contributions have provided a measurable benefit. Life Membership is reserved for those whose contribution goes beyond the ordinary or even the excellent for an extended period of time.

  1.         a minimum of three (3) years’ service as an executive Board Member; and

  2.        a minimum of ten (10) years active cumulative member of the Florida Beach Patrol Chiefs Association
